Daniel
Hello! My name is Daniel and I have been practicing massage in Oregon for about 11 years now (Lic #21223). I graduated from East-West College of the Healing Arts in Portland in 2014, and have taken numerous continuing education classes since then. That is in addition to self-study, and practicing on thousands of humans over that time (and sometimes my two cats as well haha).
When it comes to technique-- my wheelhouse is deep tissue therapeutic massage. I am known as the guy who has no problem throwing in some elbow, or doing whatever I have to do to get someone feeling better! But still going about it in a way that relaxing and enjoyable =). Everyone’s body has points where they are knotted up in their muscle tissue, which also can be called kinks or adhesions. These can cause people all kinds of grief like restricted movement, pain, or general discomfort. I can identify these points very quickly, and I really enjoy working out these knots to where they are gone, or at the least reduced down to a manageable level. I can definitely do lighter pressure work (or Swedish) if that is preferred, but my passion is really getting in there and making a physical change in the body to get clients feeling fresher than they did before they came to see me.
In recent years I have been learning and practicing Reiki energy healing as well. This practice has helped me learn how to be a better healer on all levels, not just the physical. I have really come to learn firsthand that mind body and spirit are all connected. This has led me to become a better massage therapist, and a more present human as well. Whether combined with massage or stand-alone, I know from experience this work can make a big difference for people. There’s real science and also real spirituality in this work, and where one ends and one begins doesn’t matter too much in the end. Just like with massage, sometimes just the act of relaxing on the table and being cared for a while by someone else can do wonders for the balance of your mind-body-spirit connection.
I would say my main strength as a therapist is an ability to be adaptable, and really listen to what my clients have to say. It sounds simple, and it is really, but many other therapists just do the exact same routine for every client regardless of what that person asks for or needs. I try my best to be present for everyone and listen to them on all levels. I want each client to feel good after a session, but also have my work continue having them feel better throughout their daily lives.
Personally, I have been enjoying my 36 years on Earth so far. Some things I enjoy are basketball, reading, music, hiking, biking, and hanging out with friends and family. I have had the travel bug lately, and love exploring new places. I’ve lived In Oregon for about 20 years and love it here! Although I am still a laid-back Bay Area, California kid at heart. I currently live in Corvallis with my cat Yeddie. Stay peace everyone! =)
I look forward to meeting you!
